What is the Biocheck Inflammation rapid test?

Biocheck Inflammation is a semi-quantitative rapid test for the detection of an inflammatory molecule in a finger-prick blood sample. The test is accompanied by a mobile reader app that scans the result using the mobile camera, and calculates the user’s level of inflammation.

When should I use Biocheck Inflammation?

The Biocheck Inflammation rapid test can be used to determine if a person has elevated levels of inflammation. The test is not meant to diagnose a specific disease or condition.

How do I perform the test?

View instructions on the package insert or follow the instructions in the app. Do the test in 6 easy steps:

1. Download the free Biocheck Inflammation app.
2. Collect a finger-prick blood sample and place it in the sample hole of the test cassette.
3. Add the buffer solution.
4. Wait 20 minutes.
5. Scan the test cassette using the app.
6. View your results.

What is included in a test kit?

The following items are provided with each test:

- Rapid test cassette, packaged in a foil pouch

- Alcohol swab

- Disposable lancet

- Sample collector

- Buffer solution

Can I use the rapid test more than once?

The test can only be used once. If you've encountered issues while conducting the test, please contact us at [email protected].

What should I do if I can't fill the sample dropper completely?

If you are struggling to fill the sample dropper with enough blood, try massaging your finger to stimulate blood flow. Otherwise, use a new lancet on a different finger.

How should I handle the test cassette after the sample has been placed?

Make sure the test cassette is placed on a flat surface, facing upwards, for 20min. Do not handle the cassette during the waiting time.

Can I use the app without an internet connection?

No, the app requires an internet connection.

How do I make sure my results are captured successfully?

- Place the test cassette on a flat surface with the red test lines facing upward.

- Do not move or tilt the test while it is developing.

- Wait 20 minutes for the test to develop.

- Make sure you scan the test in a well-lit environment.

- Make sure your smartphone camera lens is clean.

- When scanning the test, hold the test cassette approximately 15cm from the smartphone camera.

How does the app analyse my result?

The Biocheck App uses smart image processing software and machine learning to process the test cassette image and to calculate the results.

How do I use the app to scan the test cassette?

The app will take you through the process step by step. When you reach the scanning step, the app will automatically open the smartphone camera view and guide you in capturing an image of the test cassette. It will then automatically calculate your result using the captured image.

Is the app free?

The Biocheck Inflammation app is completely free.

The data collected through the Biocheck App is private and secure. All data is processed and stored according to the POPI Act guidelines.

What should I do with my test results?

Consult a healthcare professional if the results indicate elevated levels of inflammation. If there is reason to believe that the user has a medical problem, do not refrain from seeking medical help on account of a normal result. Always consult a healthcare professional before making any lifestyle, medication or supplementation changes.

The test measures the concentration of an inflammatory molecule in a finger-prick blood sample. The results displayed on the app give an indication of the range in which the user’s inflammation level lies.
